Acquisition Notice

      

•   1. The President declares any particular land to be required for a specified
  purpose by notification published in the Gazette.

  Whenever any particular land is needed for any purpose specified under s 5(1) the President may declare the land to be required for this purpose.
  
  The declaration is made by notification published in the Gazette.
  
  For "land" see s 2(1).

OR
 

•   2. Notification is published in the Gazette that it appears to the President
  that land in any locality is likely to be needed for a specified purpose;
  Land Likely to be Needed

  ---

  Whenever it appears to the President that land in any locality is likely to be needed for any purpose specified under s 5(1), a notification under s 3(1) will be published in the Gazette.
  
  Public notice of the notification will also be given at convenient places in the locality of the land.
  
  
  Preliminary Investigations

  ---

  Upon publication of the notification under s 3(1) an officer authorised by the Minister may enter upon and survey the land and may also exercise certain other powers.
  
  For powers of the authorised officer see s 3(1); for exercise of the powers see s 3(2).
  
  The notification ceases to have any effect after 12 months but this does not preclude the publication of a further notification under s (3)1 or the publication of a notification under s 5(1). See s 3(3).
